Austria

AUSTRIA...

is a beautiful place. Very different from the busy cities we have been to so far. Our hotel was in the middle of the countryside surrounded by mountains, lakes and millions of trees. It's the nicest place we have stayed in, the staff were lovely, the rooms were big and the food was very good. The guy who ran the hotel also organised canyoning trips so we decided to do it. It involved swimming thru cold water, climbing over rocks and jumping down mini waterfalls (the biggest was 8m) at the bottom of a massive canyon for 3 hours, looking gorgeous in our wetsuits and helmets. We ached massively the next day!!

We also went to an ice cave at the top of the biggest mountain. we went on a 40 min "comfortable hike" as they liked to call it (IT WAS NOT) and a cable car to get there. It was freezing inside, but the ice was amazin. Massive sculptures had formed from where the water had frozed, some of it was over a thousand years old. We walked 1km in to the cave which was 43km long overall and pitch black (we were given lanterns)and up 1400 steps but it was worth it!

Overall we loved Austria and will be very sad to leave.
